A last minute dash to catch a train from London Paddington to Jamie Oliver and Alex James’s exciting event – The Big Feastival – held in sunny Oxfordshire on Saturday 13th August for two days. A fun-filled event for all families and friends to celebrate food and music. After the success of The Big Feastival in South London last year, the organisers decided this year to head up to Alex’s big and very beautiful Cotswold farm. Jamie Oliver is an inspirational chef and greatly admired for this passion for food, cooking education and inspiring the younger generation. His passion had clearly been poured into this event – fantastic cooking demonstrations and masterclasses by a number of great chefs, tons of beautiful pop-up stalls from the best local produce and suppliers, continuous live music performances, non-stop entertainment and most of all loads of fun.

Top 10 highlights of the weekend:

1) Watching Jamie Oliver and Gennaro Contaldo’s cooking demonstrations
2) Scoffing away Jamie’s popular dishes – My favourite was the Beer-battered Fish & Chips and Tiramisu
3) Fantastic weather! Thank you Boden for supplying sunscreen and pretty jumper/socks to keep us warm in the evening
4) Sampling the amazing Shepherd’s Purse Blue Cheeses
5) Having fun with my blogger sister Style Slicker
6) Watching Rachel Khoo baking demonstration – I love her in “The Little Paris Kitchen”
7) Dancing and singing along to “Head Shoulder Knees and Toes” – I’m serious! Justin Fletcher from CBEEBIES had us totally entertained!
8) Watching many families and their children joining in the fun and dancing to live music performances
9) Fantastic Beatboxing performance by Duke
10) Giving away my Hummingbird Red Velvet cupcake to an upset little boy

If I had the time and a bigger stomach I would try these out:

1) Jamie’s Smokey British Brisket
2) Yum bun’s Pork bun
3) Paellaria’s Chicken and Chorizo Paella
4) Cooking session with Tom Kitchen

Thank you Boden for inviting Style Slicker and I to the event!
